Free for families. Honest about where the money comes from.

KeptWell (keptwell.org) is free today. There are no paid plans, no subscription tiers, and no fees, and we are not working on a plan that charges families. Building software that protects a family's medical records costs real money, so it has to be paid for somehow. We would rather that money come from organizations than from the person sitting in the waiting room.
Here's what we promise about how KeptWell gets funded.
- Families are not the customer.
- We are not building a family subscription. If KeptWell needs revenue, we expect it to come from organizations: employers who offer it to their people, patient advocates who use it with their clients. Their use is what pays for the family just trying to get through this year.
- No family priced out.
- A family should not lose access to their own medical records because a bill arrived during the worst month of their life. Family use is free, and keeping it free is the reason we are looking at organizations to fund it.
- You'll hear it from us first.
- If anything that is free today ever stops being free, every existing account gets at least 60 days' notice and the option to export everything before it changes.
What we will never do
These are the things we will never do, no matter who funds us. They are commitments, not marketing copy.
- We won't sell your data.
- Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to insurers, not to pharma, not to anyone, in any form, ever.
- We won't show you ads.
- Not in the app, not in emails, not anywhere.
- We won't train AI models on your records.
- KeptWell does not opt in to model training. OpenAI and Anthropic do not use API inputs or outputs to train their models by default.
- We won't put marketing tracking pixels on logged-in pages.
- Your medical records are not a conversion event.
- We won't lock you in.
- You can export everything in your circle as a ZIP at any time. Cancellation is one click. Account deletion removes your data within 30 days.
If we ever change one of these, the change will be flagged at the top of this page and emailed to every account.
